Nicole is concentrated on writing in the corner of the white board. She seems very content with what she realized, drawing the attention of Brian. Bruce, seeming to have taken the leadership role of the group, asks her to share. Nicole reluctantly shares her idea which was a very simple but important relationship with transfer of energy: when some energy goes down in a system, energy in another system goes up. The gymnast begins to move turning chemical energy into motion energy, and the motion energy into something else and so on.

While Christine and Nicole create a story board for their energy theatre Todd, Brian, and Bruce go on to talk about how simple pole vaulting would be to represent with energy theatre. As they think about it though they realize that there is more energy transfer than they originally thought. First chemical transferring into motion and then the motion transferring into the bending of the pole creating a larger and larger elastic potential energy.

Another group comes and joins the group* we are viewing. Christine and Nicole just finished creating the layout for the storyboard but has yet to put anything on it. The two groups begin to share ideas when a member of the new group (name unknown) mentions that during the gymnast's routine all the energy in the system comes to one "pinpoint" in the spring board. This is the transition from the gymnast pushing down on the springboard and when the springboard snaps back launching the gymnast into the air.
The observed group* immediately agrees with the new idea even though earlier they were certain that throughout the whole routine the gymnast was in motion meaning a constant transfer of energy.
* used to clarify which group the mic and camera are concentrated on.

In the first event you describe I find it interesting that Nicole was both writing on the whiteboard and also reluctant to share. Possibly Nicole wants to put her idea out there to the group but she is shy so she writes her idea on the whiteboard. By using the whiteboard Nicole is putting her idea into the communal space without explicitly calling attention to herself.
