Break Time Collaboration

As the class starts winding down and Stamatis lets out for a break time I walk into the snack room to see about some Red Vines, but instead of Red Vines I found three of the teachers, Bruce, Chris, and Todd in the snack room standing in a circle and very energetically thinking through different kinematic problems. Todd being only a space and geology teacher was asking what would happen in different scenarios if a force were to be applied to a particular system. Bruce is a 2nd year physical science teacher and Chris I believe to also be a physical science teacher so they held more of the instructor roles.
I was weary to walk in and observe them without joining in. I thought that this might make them feel awkward and cause them to cut the conversation short, but I was wrong. The teachers were so lost in the conversation that  recognition of my entrance was nearly completely absent. So I stood to the side and unrealistically slowly poured me a drink while listening in on them.
The first scenario Todd asked was of pushing on a wall. He seemed to be skeptical of the idea that if force is applied to the wall then the wall is applying an equal but opposite force. Bruce and Chris take turns explaining to Todd how the equilibrium state is defined and what it means to over come the equilibrium state. Both Chris and Bruce at this point are using loud and highly energetic voices. Other scenarios were used but the whole time both Bruce and Chris were highly supportive of each other and when one would be on to something the other would get excited and root them on as if watching a fight.
After some time of this back and forth Stamatis comes into the room. At that point Bruce and Chris stop talking and look to Stamatis for approval of what they were talking about. They tell them the scenario and what they figured out, but they don't wait for him to try and correct them in any way. They tell Stamatis their ideas and then ask if class has started back. It seems as though that Bruce and Chris wanted to prove that they were capable of figuring things out on their own.
