Color use in diagrams - continuaton

This is a clip of conversation that happened after the discussion about using colors in  diagrams.

There is a few things that I have noticed. Even though it is a group work (they are suppose to draw a new diagram for the stick-ring energy theater) they are whispering, as if they were not really comfortable with someone overhearing what they are saying.

Debra does not have a problem with not using colors in a way she is used to, as long as she can firs draw her own diagram and then translate her thinking into a new diagram. She says:

[00:46] Debra: But the idea of erasing and starting over is the problem. (...) If we have two [boards] and I can refer to it I can use that as a reference.

Another thing that caught my attention is what Gail says (she took Energy One last year):

[01:03] Gail: We were train to do that last year.
[01:05] Debra: With color?
[01:06] Gail: (nodding) Yeah...
[01:07] Denra: Mhm...
[01:08] Gail: So it's hard to switch now.

When they get a new board from Stamatis, they lean the first one against the wall so that they all can see it while working on a new diagram. One can see that both diagrams are quite similar, except that on the original one they use different colors to denote different types of energy.

For comparison, here is Sid's group first diagram - you can see that they also used colors for different types of energy.

  1. Cool follow-up clip, Justyna! It is interesting that both Gail and Sid (from the other video clip) were in the same E1 last summer. One point, though, the last picture is not Sid's group's diagram (they were Group 4).

    1. Thank you, Katie. I replaced it but the correct one. You can still see, though, that they are using colors for different types of energy.
