E2 Day 1 afternoon summary

Lane gave his AAPT talk ("Going Rogue: In search of passionate and unencumbered talk about energy in the blogosphere"), which is about using the comments on physicsy YouTube videos to learn about "energy people care about" (as distinct from "energy people learn about").  Teachers then looked for YouTube videos themselves and read the comments for their possible interest, and discussed whether this seemed like a worthwhile activity.

As preparation for the evening's reading assignment (the Duit paper), teachers considered the direction of energy flow at different moments in the cart-oscillating-on-a-spring scenario from this morning, and then in a modified Atwood machine.
